Shelby Newsom is a poet rooted in the undergrowth of Vermont’s Green Mountains.

Her debut chapbook, Flesh Memory (Gasher Press, 2026), explores ecology, embodiment, and the porous boundaries between human and natural worlds.

She holds an MFA in Creative Writing, with a certification in Literary Publishing, from Chatham University, and a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from Kalamazoo College. For nearly a decade, she has supported authors across all stages of the publishing process, from early drafts to finished books. Her work spans editorial and marketing roles at Autumn House Press, as well as independent consulting through her own business, where she collaborates with authors, publishers, and literary magazines to shape and position their work with care.

She currently works as a Marketing Manager at Amplify Publishing Group, where she leads book launches for a wide range of authors and projects. Across roles, her approach remains grounded in a deep commitment to language, storytelling, and the lifecycle of a book.

Her creative work engages motherhood, queerness, disability, and the living world, often tracing the intersections of body, land, and memory. Her poems have appeared in Deep Wild, Flyway, Hawk & Whippoorwill, Parks & Points, Pilgrimage Magazine, The Hopper, Querencia Press, and elsewhere.

Also a photographer and bookbinder, she lives with her family in rural Vermont, where she is slowly learning the rhythms of growing food, making things by hand, and tending a creative life shaped by attention and care.
